Robert was born about 1786 and died 1837 Rosebank, Irongray KKD. He married Mary Melrose about 1816. One of their children John, married Mary Little. They lived in Ohio USA

Another child, Robert was a hosier and founded the McGeorge factory in Dumfries. He married Jane Clark
Other family names include Ebenezer

Family 6 John McGeorge and Jean Baxter

John had several illegitimate children before marrying Jean Baxter about 1807. The family lived in Urr, KKD. John was a labourer and was born about 1775 and died 1832 in Springholm, Urr. Jean died 1878.

They had 7 children including a William who married Ellen Smith 1846 in Liverpool. The family went to Australia

Family 4 William McGeorge and Agnes Shennon

William McGeorge and Agnes Shennon's marriage and childen are not mentioned in the OPRs
I have only found one child (from his death certificate)
1. Walter McGeorge born about 1802, died 1877 Troqueer, KKD married Mary Shaw
They had 11 children. Family names include William, Walter and Mary. Walter was an ironmongers porter. They lived in Lochrutton, KKD

Family 3. Walter McGeorge and Helen McLellan

Walter was born about 1767 and died after 1793. He married Helen McLellan. Their marriage and children are not in the Old Parish Registers of Scotland (OPRs) I only found their names from the death certificates of 2 of their children

1. Jane McGeorge was born about 1787 in Parton Kirkcudbrightshire and died 1871 in Kirkpatrick Durham. She married John Barclay/Barkley in 1810 Kirkpatrick Durham. John was a carrier and also the innkeepr at the Plough in the village.

They had 9 children. Some of their descendants live in Australia



2. James McGeorge married Mary Copland/Coupland Some descendants of this family live in USA and South Africa

Family 1. John McGeorge and Isabel Humble

John McGeorge and Isabel Humble
John McGeorge, a shoemaker born about 1779, and Isabel Humble had a daughter, Catherine (born 1799 Ayr) who married a John McGeorge, (born abt 1802) a watchmaker of Kelton Kirkcudbrightshire Scotland

John the watch maker from Kelton's parents were David McGeorge and Margaret Wilson

Another child of John and Isabel Humble was called John (born about 1801 Ayr) was in the Royal Staffs Corp and went to NSW Australia in 1825. He was a convict overseer, had land at Goulburn, and later was a hotel owner at Wheeo Flat in 1841.

The first names which occur in these families include, Andrew, David, John, Isabel. The family also includes William Stewart McGeorge, a well know painter
