Family 9 Robert McGeorge and Mary Melrose
Robert was born about 1786 and died 1837 Rosebank, Irongray KKD. He married Mary Melrose about 1816. One of their children John, married Mary Little. They lived in Ohio USA
Another child, Robert was a hosier and founded the McGeorge factory in Dumfries. He married Jane Clark
Other family names include Ebenezer

Although not 100% clear, but I come from Robert McGeorge and Jane Clark line - a great grandchild (or have I missed a great out?).
What we have determined is that this Robert & Jane had five children, and have that fairly well tied up. what does remain a mystery is going back from there, which should get us into the territory of 'Rob Roy' of cattle thieving fame -and hence, I am told, the origins of the name McGeorge as they could no longer use MacGregor.
